Alice Barnard Photography

Alice Barnard Photography

- This is my Facebook page which began at the beginning of last summer when I returned home to Jersey for the summer.
At this time I had nothing lined up in the sense of work but was lucky enough to find that people/ clients came directly to me for my photographic services.

The first work I had, came through a local Sea Sports company, 'Jono's Watersports' which had just opened a new shop in St. Brelades Bay, selling surf clothes and equipment. The opening of Jono's new shop was an evening down at the bay where I was asked to photograph the fashion show he had organised, to promote the opening.

Initially I was 'behind the scenes', pre-show as the models were being prepped - having their hair and make-up done. At this point I was able to introduce myself and interact with the models before taking their picture on the beach, which would hopefully have made them a bit more relaxed, as for the majority of them this was their first time in front of the camera/ modelling and in swim wear . When the show began, I went and stood down on the beach whilst each model walked down one at a time through the bar/ restaurant 'Sugar Reef'. The time was about roughly 7pm and the sun was beginning to set so I was aware that the natural lighting would become limited but fortunately it lasted only a couple of hours, so the light was perfect.

Post- show I went back up to the restaurant and gave Jono and the models a quick preview of some of the images. He was pleased with them and the girls said they would be comfortable for me to use these images for my photography page/ blog.
As this was my first official evening of work for summer I was still slightly nervous as I wasn't sure if I would be 'good enough' for the job or if Jono would be happy with my images, so it definitely helped my confidence to grow slightly and after a sigh of relief as I handed over the images a few days later after editing, I came away smiling with my first successful working experience. :)

Here are a few final edits from the shoot from June 13th, 2011:

overall, 3hr shoot + 4hr editing
