'Springfield School'

This day was a very hot day, so these guys really had their work cut out for them. When I arrived in the morning there was already a lot going on and they were busy getting down to it as they only had 1 day to complete the work.
When I came back later on in the day I felt they had relaxed a bit into it and were able to enjoy the work instead of feeling under pressure. As it was a charity event I wanted to portray a fun side to the task and not just make it look like all work and no play.

'Shelter'

My friend works for the company KPMG and they hold an annual charity week each summer and this year I was asked to photograph each event for them to use for their company intranet and marketing images. A great way to boost confidence by having new people to interact with. Initially I did feel rather nervous, but after being with them for a short while, I began to warm into it and relax a little which hopefully ensured my images were good quality.

This model was slightly more experienced and older and this time Rory chose another dramatic style, with a kind of two-faced theme with opposite hair and make-up on either side of the face.

She wasn't very good with instructions and found it difficult to manipulate any other 'poses' other than her standard 'passport' style look. I tried different ways of directing her but every time she would still come back to the usual. Although it did not go exactly according to plan I was still able to develop some worthy edits which Rory was pleased with = Brief Complete.

The second shoot had a less dramatic look so I decided the white background would prove more successful. This model was younger than the previous and had a more innocent look.

My friends brother contacted me to enquire about some shoots for his Hair and Make-up portfolio. This was another new experience for me but much more satisfying professionally as it enabled me to continue with work that I would enjoy within the fashion culture.

I had 3 separate shoots over all with 3 completely different models. Rory the make-up artist and hair stylist met me at the studio I was using and I set up the lighting whilst he set up his equipment whilst waiting for the model to arrive.

Prior to these shoots we met up for a coffee to discuss the work we would be doing. Rory took me through his current portfolio and showed me the work he had already created. This gave me an insight as to the 'look' he was going for.

Ross & Gemma Wedding

My friend Ross and his fiance got married last summer and I was fortunate enough to be asked to photography their evening do. This was a totally new experience for me photographing this type of event but luckily it was not as terrifying as the church ceremony would have been. I think this type of event is what helps to build my confidence as I have to interact with the guests.

I stayed for no more than a couple of hours as I did not want to dampen the mood, so once I felt I had enough images to edit, I left and started editing at home. This took another few hours and then once i'd been through the shoot I began the final edit. I then burnt them to a CD to pass on to the groom.
The happy couple were very pleased with the images and congratulated me on the great outcome.
Event Photography is something I have been pursuing for a few years back home, as I have worked for local photographic company Jersey Events .

HoneyBun Hair Shoot

Local Girl group 'Honeybun' were performing at 'Gig in the Park' back home in Jersey and I was asked to photograph them behind the scenes during Hair and make-up. My images were then used in local Magazine, Gallery for their 'Honeybun Hair Secrets' article.

It was a pleasure to meet and work with each Alice, Zara, Hannah and Holly. They each have their own individual personality but when put together they create an amazing sound. My brief was to capture the behind the scenes atmosphere and create images which showed the progress of their hair transformation.

We started off in the Park inside their marquee but unfortunately the rain became rather torrential so we had to vacate back to the hair salon. This transformed everyone's mood as we were able to be dry and safe inside away from the rain in the comfort of the salon without the fear of getting electrocuted with the plugs on extension leads.

Over a four hour period I was able to capture the girls 'back stage' in a different environment to what the public are used to seeing them in. It was a relaxed atmosphere where the girls were patiently waiting for their turn to have their hair transformed. I was made to feel very welcome in the surroundings and managed to produce some very fantastic images.
